Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that entails stimulating certain points on the body, most often with a needle penetrating the skin, to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions. It derives its origins from China well over 2000 years ago. In China today – oriental medicine is used as widely as western, and typical medical education includes at least an introductory course of ancient theories, principles and practices. Benefits of acupuncture have been noted in almost every aspect of our health. Focusing on the body as a whole – is the central philosophy of oriental medicine. Treating, correcting body’s processes and energy flow – yields a healthy response towards recovering from an injury, resisting and conquering a disease, increasing vitality.

Benefits of Acupuncture

Increased lymphatic and blood circulation
Decreased inflammation
Relief of muscle congestions and cramps
Improved immune system response
Waste products (toxins) drainage out of the body

Pain Management

Acupuncture can relax over-reacting muscles and relieve them of unnecessary rigidness by stimulating the blood circulation of the surrounding muscle fibers. Other acupuncture points stimulate specific brain functions, which produce endorphins – natural pain killer hormones in our body. This may result in a fast and substantial reduction of pain. With the muscle spasm eliminated, the patient only has to deal with the original injury which can also recover quickly through acupuncture, chiropractic adjustment and medical massage therapy.

How does acupuncture work for facial rejuvenation?
Acupuncture and oriental medicine are based on a holistic approach to your health and well-being. Besides the direct impact on your skin mentioned on top of the brochure, commonly reported effects of acupuncture treatment are improved relaxation, increased production of adenosine – a natural painkiller in the skin. Acupuncture is also well known for its ability to increase the production of endorphins that help improve the appearance of the face and skin, increase blood circulation, upgrade sleep quality, reduce stress, and improve mood.

How does the course of treatment work?
There are many different methods and course of treatment. The doctor will choose the safest treatment course for your skin type and health status. Usual course of treatment starts with twelve sessions, twice per week for six weeks. However, if you have delicate skin, the course of the treatment may be once per week for ten weeks. Each treatment is approximately one hour long.

How fast and what results can I expect?

Improvement will be noticeable after five to six sessions, but the results really depend on individual skin type. Typically the effects last from four to six months after a course of twelve treatments. To maintain the results, it is recommended that you continue treatments between once a week to once a month, depending on the severity of the wrinkles and skin type. This allows the collagen to continue doing its job of minimizing the formation of fine lines.

The results may also be augmented by herbal supplementation custom designed for your skin type and health needs. At Genesis we also offer a light treatment with a BIOPTRON lamp. By utilizing different light spectrums we can help your body and skin achieve better results and more lasting effect.
